1. Introduction

Korantive Foundation, Inc. (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Korantive Library, a digital reading application designed to support literacy and learning.

Korantive Library provides educational books, audio narration, reading activities, and tools for monitoring reading progress. The application is intended for children, teenagers, teachers, and parents.

We respect our users’ privacy and recognize the importance of protecting children’s personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how users can request access to or deletion of their information.

2. Who Can Use Korantive Library

Korantive Library supports children in Grade 1 through Junior High School 3 (JHS 3), including children under 13 and teenagers aged 13–17.

Teachers create classes and provide students with class codes. Students use their teacher-provided class codes, names or nicknames, and personal identification numbers (PINs) to access their reading accounts.

Teachers are instructed to obtain appropriate parental or guardian consent before providing children with access to the application. Where applicable, schools and teachers must obtain the authorization required by law.

3. Information We Collect

Teacher and Other Adult Accounts

When adults register, we collect information such as:

  • Email addresses

  • Usernames

  • Passwords, which are stored in hashed form

  • Account roles

  • Optional first and last names

Student Accounts

When students join a class, we collect:

  • Student names or nicknames

  • Class codes

  • Student identification codes

  • PINs, which are stored in hashed form

  • Classroom enrollment information

Students are not required to provide an email address to join a class.

Reading and Learning Information

To support the application’s educational features, we store information such as:

  • Reading progress and completed books

  • Current reading position

  • Bookmarks

  • Quiz answers, scores, and attempts

  • Reading activity timestamps

Authorized teachers can view reading progress and quiz results for students in their classes.

Technical Information

Our systems may process login sessions, authentication identifiers, and technical request information needed to operate, maintain, and protect the application.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information collected to:

  • Create and manage user accounts.

  • Allow students to join their teachers’ classes.

  • Provide educational books and reading activities.

  • Save reading progress and bookmarks.

  • Record quiz results and support classroom learning.

  • Allow teachers to monitor students’ reading activities.

  • Maintain account security and application functionality.

  • Respond to technical support and privacy requests.

We use student information to provide and support Korantive Library’s educational services.

5. Children’s Privacy and Parental Consent

Protecting children’s information is an important part of operating Korantive Library.

Teachers are instructed to obtain appropriate parental or guardian consent, including through written or emailed communications, before giving children access to the application.

Teachers provide class codes to students and manage their classroom participation.

We encourage parents and guardians to communicate with their child’s teacher about the use of Korantive Library.

Parents and guardians may contact us at admin@korantive.org to request information about their child’s account or to request correction or deletion of their child’s personal information.

Where required by applicable law, we will review and honor parental rights concerning children’s personal information.

6. Audio Narration

Korantive Library provides prerecorded audio narration to support children’s reading experiences.

Students can listen to these recordings without recording or uploading their own voices.

The application also has an administrator-only voice-production feature. Authorized administrators may upload voice samples for narration development, with voice-cloning services provided by ElevenLabs.

This administrator feature is separate from the student reading experience.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

Korantive Library uses technical service providers to support application operations.

These include:

  • Replit: Application hosting and related infrastructure.

  • Cloud storage and database infrastructure: Storage of application files and account-related information.

  • Resend: Delivery of certain account-related emails, such as password-reset messages.

  • ElevenLabs: Generation and processing of narration and administrator-provided voice samples.

These providers process information as needed to deliver their respective services.

We do not sell children’s personal information or use it for behavioral advertising.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information stored and processed through Korantive Library.

Account passwords and student PINs are stored using secure password hashing. Access to student reading information is restricted through account and classroom permissions.

We also use authentication and other security measures to help protect user accounts.

No online system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to identify and address potential security risks.

9. Data Retention

We retain account and educational information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Korantive Library’s services and fulfill applicable legal obligations.

Some information may remain temporarily in device storage or service-provider backups after account deletion.

Retention and deletion of backup copies may depend on the applicable provider’s policies and technical processes.

10. Account and Data Deletion

Adult users can delete their accounts through the application’s account-management features.

Teachers can remove students from their classes or use the separate Delete Student Account feature to request permanent deletion of a student account they are authorized to manage.

Permanent student-account deletion removes the student’s account and associated server-side records, including reading progress, quiz history, and authentication sessions.

For students enrolled in classes managed by multiple teachers, the application may require other classroom memberships to be removed before permanent account deletion can proceed.

Information previously downloaded or cached on a device may remain until the relevant local files are cleared.

Parents and guardians can request deletion of their child’s information by contacting:

admin@korantive.org

We may request appropriate verification before processing a deletion request.

11. Privacy Rights

Depending on applicable law, users and parents or guardians may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information.

  • Request correction of inaccurate information.

  • Request deletion of personal information.

  • Ask questions about how information is collected or used.

Requests can be sent to admin@korantive.org.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our application, information practices, or legal requirements.

Any updates will be reflected by changing the effective date on this page.
